Olive Ostrich Leg Nexo Biker Wallet
The Nexo Biker Wallet is a compact interpretation of the traditional chain wallet, constructed entirely by hand in the DARKNEEDLE San Francisco studio.
Despite its reduced proportions, the Nexo is one of the studio’s more involved pieces to produce. Each component is individually cut, prepared, finished and hand-stitched, with particular attention given to the interplay of materials and textures throughout. Italian horse culatta forms the exterior, paired with smooth and textured Italian leather interior and contrasting black leather details.
The natural variation of the culatta was considered throughout the cutting and construction of this piece, allowing areas of pronounced grain, smoother surfaces and tonal variation to become part of the finished composition. The result is a singular piece that cannot be exactly reproduced.
The interior features two card pockets and a zippered compartment for folded cash and coins, with an additional card pocket on the reverse. Each card pocket accommodates approximately one to two cards.
Finished with a Riri zipper, PRYM Italy hardware, and a Nexo leather bike chain constructed from solid brass and horsehide.

ABOUT OSTRICH LEG
Ostrich leg leather is distinguished by its naturally pronounced scale pattern, creating a surface that can vary significantly across a single skin. Unlike the quilled texture associated with ostrich body leather, the leg has a tighter, more reptilian character formed by overlapping scales.
We work exclusively with Grade 1 ostrich leg skins, primarily in glazed and matte finishes, selecting each individually for its pattern, texture and tonal variation. The relatively small size and irregular structure of each skin requires pieces to be considered individually during cutting, allowing the natural scale pattern to become part of the composition of the finished object.
Variation in scale size, alignment, texture and surface character is inherent to the material. No two skins are identical, and these differences are intentionally retained rather than concealed.
Our ostrich leg is responsibly sourced and imported in accordance with applicable international wildlife trade regulations.
ABOUT HARDWARE
We primarily use solid brass hardware, selected for its strength, durability and resistance to corrosion. Where specified, black hardware is finished using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), creating a durable surface finish while retaining the weight and character of solid brass beneath.
Like the leather itself, hardware will evolve through use. Black finishes may gradually soften or wear at points of frequent contact, revealing subtle traces of the underlying brass and developing a patina individual to each piece.
Variations and signs of wear are considered a natural part of the material’s evolution.
NATURAL VARIATION
Natural variation is an inherent part of the materials we work with. Grain, texture, color, markings, and surface character will vary from piece to piece, making each object subtly unique.
These variations are not considered imperfections or defects, but part of the individual character of the material.

Each piece is made by hand in our San Francisco studio. Please allow approximately 5–7 business days for production before your order ships.
